2 out of 5 stars No, no, no and again.... NO.   November 21, 2007
If you are a hardened gamer, having come up through the ages of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, R.O.T.T. and on to gems such as Halo etc... Then you understand gameplay and the advances made in the industry with regards to A.I. texture mapping and lighting.

That said, Pariah was a HUGE dissapointment dispite some nifty graphics, but my fears were soon confirmed upon the game loading up. After seeing slightly more than 1 developer responsible for the game i became uneasy.

-The story is convoluted, with no real character development or background explored.

-The cut-scenes do little to explain anything properly

-Other annoying little glitches in gameplay, like side-step (too slow)

-Ludicrous movement restrictions

This game may be miles better on the P.C. but i'm not about to waste good money finding out.

If you just like running around shooting things, fine, you can pick it up pretty cheap now, go for it.

If you want an involving escape from reality with all the trappings of a good old FPS, then don't buy this one... You will cry.

3 out of 5 stars Acceptable but overrated   June 6, 2007
Pariah suffers from a consistent flaw in the games industry hype machine, that is, any game with a relatively interesting concept and nice design becomes greatly hyped until the point that it is being sold as a game far beyond its merits. Pariah is a playable, acceptable first-person shooter with some interesting weapons and an ok plot. The graphics are passable but nothing amazing and the level design is ok but occasionally confusing. However, the game is not the next Halo and should not be treated as such. If you're the type to rent games, it's probably a better arrangement for you, if you buy it then wait until you see it discounted.

3 out of 5 stars OK......... I guess   February 11, 2006

Pariah is a decent game with good graphics and a long lifespan.
Although the weird thing is the guns are huge. Even the the machine gun is massive, and you always get the feeling that your character isnt strong enough to hold the gun. Overall this is a average but playable game.

I brought this game after hearing a review on the Tele. They said that they only played a preview copy but some of the aspects of the game left them with a lot of hope for a challenger for Halo.
On first playing the game the control system felt smooth and easily identifiable. The graphics where tidy, no real visible faults until we introduced a second player into the game for co-op play. I have always been a fan of this and when we got going it was good fun blowing people into the air with the grenade launcher, but we did notice a severe slow down in game speed and graphics, a slight lagging effect was clear in the game as the game struggled to cope with the different movements of the games. This was the first of a few niggles that came up.
The second was the lack of story line. Random characters, conversations and general thoughts really ruined the game. It was enjoyable even with the lack of smooth graphics but when the cut scenes came up i really lost interest.
The last problem was the bosses, there were two obvious bosses that came up in the game, neither of which really caused any great deal of trouble and were far to close together.

This is a good game and i think that the next game that is made by the developers could be one of the finest that i will play, unfortunately this game really has no lastability and so will be completed in hours rather than days and will be sitting on your shelf soon after.
Renting this title would be my advice cause it certainly is worth playing as the weapon mods are very nice and fun to try out on your unsuspecting enemy. Play this game alone also and maybe switch between cut scenes rather than playing co-op. The lagging graphics are not the only niggle as the AI seems unaware there are two of you and so player two can often just walk up to enemies and blow them to pieces in comical fashion!!

It is a good game, the only problem with it is the plot is bad, i dont have a clue wot is goin on, but who cares. The game is really fun, i luv the fact that you can upgrade weapons.

You should buy this game. It's good!
