2 out of 5 stars True Crime: New York City   August 18, 2007
This is one of the oddest games Ive ever played on Xbox. On the one hand the game handles very badly and has BIG problems with lag, and it also freezes totally every now and then. But on the other hand the drive through New York City with some cool 1970/1980 tracks is very realistic and atmospheric at times. Don't expect GTA quality though!

4 out of 5 stars Good game...but buggy   November 30, 2005

After the shocking dissapointment that was TC streets of LA i was pleased to learn that luxoflux had taken a more serious approach to TCNY. All credit to them, they did a great job. A fully breathing city which responds and changes to your actions, good storyline and gameplay, however some of the random bugs are just annoying.

For a start, if your a fan of the genre, then dont go expecting a polish on par with perhaps the GTA series. Although the game looks great on the whole, it is prone to sudden and aggravating flaws. for example, sometimes while driving, the HUD and all other on screen items will vanish, leaving you blind, as well as the road often has a freak out with textures in this time. Also, there is common loss of sound effects which requires leaving and re-entering the vehicle. I wasnt too sure about the NPC actions either. I hate to keep reffering to GTA, but as fans will know, the NPC's would walk, sit, chat and do various other actions, in TCNY, the NPCs do walk and run, but ther actions seem limited to swearing and repeating other annoying phrases over and over, Conversations between 2 NPCs are rare and are often the same. All they really do is bump into each other (which results in swearing 24/7 when in some crowded areas) and get in the way of bullets, basically.

If you think im trying to stop you buying then please dont, it is a great game and fans will undoubtably love it. It would be a fantastic game if they worked on thier transitions (e.g sunny to rainy) which is basically a split second lighting and graphical change, and made the whole city a bit more interactive.

It sounds like im picking holes, but im not, great game, 4/5.
