The Halo games were always the best reason to by an Xbox and now the final part in the initial trilogy of ground breaking first person shooters is set to raise the bar for all Xbox 360 games. Well known for their secrecy, Bungie have officially revealed little about Halo 3, but what is known is that the new game features an Earth completely overtaken and controlled by the Covenant, as they seek a secret hidden Forerunner weapon.

Although little is known about the single player mode, more has been seen of the multiplayer, with various beta testing schemes going on in both secret and in public. A number of new weapons and vehicles have already been revealed including a new assault rifle, the new Spartan laser anti-vehicle weapon and a new hand held shield device for Master Chief that can create a far more effective protective shield around you. New vehicles include the ATV-like Mongoose, a new variant of the Warthog and the new, more powerful, Brute Ghost.

Of course the most important new feature that every new fan is interested in is the graphics, and they are looking predictably fantastic. With lots of technobabble, new features like high dynamic range lightning and pre-computed radiance transfer means the game will not only play great but looks amazing too.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!! what a great game!   July 12, 2008
This is by far the best game I have ever played on the Xbox 360, The graphics are excellent the gameplay is realistic, Online multiplay is fantastic. I play it every day (for the last 3 months) and im still not bored of it. I would reccomend this game to anybody if you like shoot em up's.
Its simply THE GREATEST GAME EVER and it will not be forgotten!

3 out of 5 stars I followed the hype and it was okay...nothing more   July 2, 2008
After having played HALO 1 and 2, number 3 should have been the armageddon of the trilogy...and sadly, it did not work out the way that many people thought, or at least, I did.

The game itself is okay, nothing more. Graphics are outstanding, nice range of weapons, yet it is basically a linear FPS. What I really dislike is the various times 'back tracking' through levels. I guess that close to 50% of the game consists of playing the 'same level' over again, with new enemies and new goals. Yet, you're going through the same environment. Challenging? Not really, it can be, and not really attractively made from a design point of view. Also, these irritating voice-overs in especially 'Rampant' and 'The Running Man' will become very irritating and at those points, you wish you could press the fast forward button. Bungie has dissapointed me here tremendously.

Transportation controls are sluggish at some point, but funcion well. Nice break from the running and jumping.

Overall, if you like a FPS, it is nice, you come sometimes into situations, where you have to know your weapons and which would work the best on which enemy.

4 out of 5 stars Decent game   June 28, 2008
This is a decent game and a natural progression from Halo 2. The online co-op campaign mode is a great addition but lets face it the main highlight of Halo is the matchmaking and the only down side to this is the map selection which I dont feel is as strong as in Halo2 but the maps look much better just dont seem to play quite as well. But even still well worth buying.

3 out of 5 stars Nothing Special   June 23, 2008
this game is still very good but their is nothing wich makes it better than any other shoot em up game.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Bother   June 21, 2008

I don't normally go to the effort of reviwing games but I felt such disappointment with this game that I felt I should review it.

Firstly the graphics are very bad, considering what the console is capable of (i.e. gears of war is a good example) what they have created looks like a child drew it.

Secondly the weapons are useless, I used to love the other halos but in Halo 3 all the weapons are good for is clubs, which brings me to my final point and biggest let down.

The multiplayer, is mind numbingly boring, the player that wins is the one who finds the biggest gun, or throws the most grenades it has no tactics to it and requires no skill to win. Also the matchmaking feature is a joke, I was never pitted against people of the same skill level it seemed to just find the first people available to start a game, and offered no variety in the levels it picked.

Overall this game is a huge let down and a complete waste of time and money.
