Insomniac Games has overhauled its proprietary PS3 engine technology to create the most visceral Ratchet & Clank universe yet, overflowing with exotic creatures and flying vehicles.

The PS3 system's superior power enables Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction to bring vivid worlds to life with increased draw distances, enhanced lighting and shadowing, and more fluid and exaggerated animations.

Discover an all-new galaxy spanning vast worlds such as a majestic cloud city and a space-age amusement park.

Encounter an entirely new cast of expressive characters (and some old favorites) as well as the introduction of a variety of new alien races and life forms.

Experience a more emotive Ratchet with nearly as many animation joints in his face as PS2 Ratchet had in his entire body. This joint density applies to many of the characters featured in Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, enabling more detailed, personable and expressive characters.

Clank returns as a playable character, and Ratchet will have new enhanced abilities.

Fire a fully stocked arsenal of all-new weapons such as the Plasma Beasts and Tornado Launcher, which uses the Sixaxis controller to direct tornadoes that suck up enemies and whip them around with debris.

Use the Sixaxis controller to maneuver, destroy enemies and solve puzzles.

Upgrade and customize weapons with a new system that provides greater power and flexibility. Players also will have the ability to upgrade Ratchet's armor.

Utilise Ratchet's new supply of consumable "on-demand' combat devices, such as the Groovitron, which causes enemies to dance uncontrollably to '70s disco hits.

Gadgets gameplay returns as Ratchet and Clank will have more gadgets at their disposal to help them bounce, fly, evade and defy gravity.

Pilot Ratchet's ship through asteroid fields while trying to destroy enemy fleets in a complete redesign of classic Ratchet & Clank space combat gameplay.

5 out of 5 stars brillant!   October 20, 2008
I have never owned a ratchet and clank game but played it at friends house and thought i might get this. Its brillant you get loads of weapens and gadgets and three types of amour. My favourite weapon is the plasma stalkers where you throw them and they go in the ground and follow you until an enmey comes and it jumps out and kills it.An other good thing is that you can manully upgrade your weapons and then if you keep on useing a weapon it automataclly upgrades you get 10 automatick upgrades and when it gets to level 5 the weapon changes like the plasma stalkers used to be plasma beasts where they didnt folow you around.the three types of amour look realy cool ive forgotten the names of the first two but the third one which i got is trillam amour which absorbs 65% of damage. The gadgets are realy cool like the groovitron which is a disco ball with music which makes enmeys dance and my favourite gadget which is the visi copter wich is a small copter wich you steer with the sixaxes and you firer missiles at enemeys. The graphics are brillant and the cut scenes are cool and not too long all in all if your a fan of ratchet and clank or not get this game your love it!

4 out of 5 stars Awesome & Clank   August 1, 2008

Tools of Destruction is fun. The graphics are great and some places they are stunning. there are a wide range of wacky weapons and locations with a storyline that is bigger and more personel to Ratchet than anything they've attempted before.
the platforming element is done very well and so are the StarFox style space levels where it isn't until your ship is flying through the rings of an asteroid that you truly realise the greatness of this game.
If you have enjoyed previous R&C games then this is a must buy as it brings in all the good elements from previous games and then makes them better on an epic scale.

2 out of 5 stars Rachet and Clank: Tools Of Destruction Review   July 15, 2008

A Dissapointment To the R&C series, Seriously, It claimed that "The Levels Are So Big, Your Eyes Will Pop Out" But in Reality, They're Actually Smaller Then the Level in R&C1, and the Levels Are Incredibly Easy, The Reason I havn't Completed it it's because it got boring after 2 Levels, and It gets Repetitive, this is nothing Major but The Fact You Can't Go Giant Clank Is a Bit of a dissapointment as well considering, that you can in every other R&C Game, The Only Goos THing Is The Graphics and Cutscenes, Rachet Looks Pure Cool In Tje Game, But The Graphics Don't Matter It's the Gameplay and Fun Facter, and It Lack Alot Of It.

Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 4/10
Fun Factor: 3/10
Sound: 2/10
Replay Value: 2/10
Overall: 4/10
Closing Comment: Disspointment! Shouldn't Exist

5 out of 5 stars So Many Tools So Much Fun   July 5, 2008
We've had this three weeks and been playing intermittantly during that time. Have had great fun especially upgrading his armour suit and the weapons. Have been engrossed with the variety and imagination popped into these. Obviously this is not a game for serious gamers that want totally realistic/exact detail/very hard games. This is fun with totally made up weapons/a pleasure to play/very good graphics and lots to do.

Last night played through the last boss level and didn't realise at the time this was the end - so I was a bit miffed when the credits started to roll. I waited patiently for this to finish to see what happened and was rewarded with the opportunity to complete the game again in a harder setting OR go back to before defeating the end boss. I chose to start again with all my upgraded weapons and armour. Now I can hopefully collect all the 'gold screws' I missed and other such like.

So here I am again on the very first level and the first thing that happens is when I enter the 'Upgrade Weapon' port, all my weapons can be upgraded to 'mega' weapons - even my armour can be upgraded again - okay I'm off now, back to the game to earn my first 3 million bolts for my first 'mega' upgrade!!!

3 out of 5 stars An "OK" Addition To The Series   July 3, 2008

Bought this for a change and break from all the other games that dish out death & destruction. Wanted something that was fun to look at and play. And that's nearly what you get with this.
It doesn't make any huge leaps or bounds in terms of gameplay from the other Ratchet games although some of the puzzles are quite cool and tricky with the way you have to use the motion of the six-axis.
But overall it covers pretty much the same ground as the previous titles and serious gamers will probably not take too much time to complete it as it's probably aimed more at the junior gamers out there.
Colourful and pretty to look at, quick and easy to complete.
That's Ratchet & Clank:Tools Of Destruction in a nutshell.
