3 out of 5 stars Not bad- but some flaws   August 30, 2007

I had been looking for something like this since a year ago, when there was nothing on the market.

Well it works, in that it holds the PSP firmer than the elastic bands I was using before, and its good that it provides an incar power adaptor too (which also powers the amp for the speakers). Those speakers are louder than the tiny one in the PSP itself (although the hiss from the amp is noticeable when the PSP is quiet, road noise would cover this in a car) The speakers are disabled when you plug in headphones, of which 2 cheap pairs are provided, as well as a 2 in 1 adaptor.

Whilst I think its a worthwhile gadget there are a few caveats you should be aware of:

Its very fiddly to get the PSP in and out, requiring insertion and tightening of two screws into the top of the PSP. You have to do this whenever you a) remove the PSP when you leave the car, b) switch the PSP on and off as you cant reach the power button when its mounted, and c) to swap memory sticks or UMD disks.

The tilting mount only has about 10 degrees of adjustment up and down

The wired remote is very plasticky and looks clumsy when attached, though its function is worth having.

The straps dont hold it as securely as I'd like on the headrest, always a problem with universal mounts.

It sounds like I hate this product, which I dont, I think its fair enough at the price, and there arent many option. Not being able to turn power on and off and change media easily when the PSP is mounted is probably its biggest flaw.
