Lots of fun, except for the gun June 8, 2008 The zapper itself is solid and feels like it's made of good quality materials. It's cleverly designed as well, keeping the nunchuck lead snugly wrapped up in the rear handle, where it contributes to the weight and balance of the zapper. Like other people who have reviewed it, however, I think that the two-handle design feels a bit awkward, regardless of whether you have your right hand at the front on the trigger, or at the back on the nunchuck stick. I find that my arms and hands ache after using it for about 30 minutes, because you have to bend your elbows-in and wrists-out to keep your hands in-line on the two handles.
The best part of this package is the game, Link's Crossbow Training: ironic since it's a pretty simple collection of mini shooting games. But how much fun it is! Like the `shoot the balloons' game in Wii Play, the games are very short and formulaic, with enemies or targets appearing in the same formations each time. Also like shoot-the-balloons, you get score multipliers if you continue to rack up consecutive hits. This is the beauty of the game: the games are so short, the urge to have `just one more go' to beat your high score is irresistible. Each level is made up of three sub-games, and to beat your target score you have to be good on all of them, meaning that the urge to replay is even greater when you know that you had a bad time on just one of the levels. Before you know it, an hour has been frittered away! The authors have helpfully included practice stages where you can hone your skills on any stage of any unlocked level. Although the game is very short and you will have unlocked all the stages in an hour or two, the replay value is immense because of the urge to beat your high score and to find all the hidden goodies when you shoot other parts of the scenery on each level.
Like Mario Kart and its wheel, Link's Crossbow Training is far better to play when you don't bother with the zapper, and play it using the normal remote + nunchuck method. If the zapper came without the game, I probably would not recommend it, but the game alone is well worth the asking price!
Fun ,Easy to settup- 5 Language Game- so you can buy abroad!, June 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Zapper can Also be used for Resident Evil:Umbrella,Chronicles Just to let you know this is a 5 language game : English, German,French,Spanish, Italian.
So if you prefer to play in one of the other languages simply change your Wii console setting to default English,German,French,Spanish, or Italian , game will then play in that language. If you buy (like many have Wii Fit,Mario Kart from de or fr - will also work)
It is good clean fun. This is really a target practice game, each level has 3 different types of targets. It is in theory a simply game, however hitting moving targets as then fall down a water full(1 example) is not as each as you may think. You also have to find & shoot Spiders, some still hidden in the trees in cocoons..eeek.
The Zapper Included can used for other games, it is a great accessory , so taking that in to account the game itself though short is really quite cheap!! Cheers Jules
For Manual- Check out Nintendo.com and choose the country you want & look for manual (sadly USA site for this product only has English games manual, though for many of other their product they often have french & spanish versions)
Very Disappointing May 11, 2008 Its looks the business, but its not very practical. Aiming by moving the whole unit and trying to move using the nunchuck, which is joined to the unit, is a bit awkward. To be honest its a bit of a nightmare and not very fun at all. The shooting side of things is also very awkward and not what you'd expect. For the right handed out there (and thats most of us) your trigger finger is your right index finger. You don't actually use this to fire when using the zapper. You have to aim and shoot with your left hand. It just doesn't feel right. You could try switching hands on the zapper (left controlling the nunchuck and right controlling the remote) but that doesn't feel right either. Its a shame cause it does look good and in theory should be a good fun piece of kit, but i would say its more suited to lefties. I've not used mine in ages. Its more fun playing the games without it. Nevermind, eh? Now how am i going to get my money back?!
Very good accessory April 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I gave this item 3 stars for fun, as the fun really begins when you buy games that would benefit from it.
The wii zapper is, without a doubt, the best light gun available for the wii, as it's the official one, there is literally nothing wrong with it. The games that spring to mind that use this are Ghost squad, Resident evil umbrella chronicles, and House of the dead return. These games all highly benefit from it.
The feel of the gun is good, you can hold it left or right handed. The gun is pure plastic, but its not uncomfortable. I would highly reccomend buying the wii zapper.
As for the game, it's a spin off, with no story, just pure target training. I have played it three times, and i've had this since christmas 2007, so whatever you do, dont buy the zapper for the game included.
Overall, this product is great, but i would reccomend buying it with a game such as Ghost Squad, Umbrella chronicals or House of the dead.
Feckin Brill February 23, 2008 I LOVE LOVE LOVE this game. I'd repeat how much I love it more but you should get the idea. I'm totally kicking my fiance's ass and he is not happy. I actually think theres a secret assasin in me. Am fighting to get my last 2 platinum medals but its so much fun that I'm enjoying it all the way. And now that I'm almost finished with the "training" I think they should bring out the real deal. I'll be lining up to get it as soon as it comes out
