a collected edition of a six issue comic that takes the form of a prequel to the tv show supernatural. the show is about two brothers, sam and dean winchester, who follow in their father's footsteps by hunting monsters across america.

This tells the story of their father john, and how the death of his wife - a moment that fans of the show will be familiar with - led to him starting down the path that made him become a full time monster hunter, the family business that one day, his sons will take up.

John at the start of this is different from the character we know on the show, an ordinary man just looking to live a normal life with his family. Over the course of these six issues, he gets further and further into the supernatural world, and gradually becomes the character we are more familiar with.

The artwork is interestingly stylish and may not appeal to all, but does the job that is required of it very well. And the writing is good, the characters developing well along the way. Look out for a few cameos from familiar faces from the show also.

Possibly not the item to get you hooked on the show, but a good read for the fans
