4 out of 5 stars Practical, beautiful, evocative -   September 26, 2006

This book is an absolute must for anyone who loves the French countryside, who cherishes dreams of maybe living there one day, who already lives there (damn you all!!), or who simply fancies trying to re-create the look in their own corner of England!
On the one hand it is a practical guide to creating a typical vegetable garden, to renovating an old farmyard, to setting up a pond, and much else besides. On the other, it is just such a soothing and aesthetically pleasing book to browse through and soak up the atmosphere.
It apparently won awards when origianlly published in France, and I'm not surprised. Heartily recommended!
