5 out of 5 stars A very good and humane book   July 18, 2008
This is far better than any of the other career books I've read:

- It makes you feel less alone because you realise that there are many others who are the same as you.

- It makes your realise that just because you don't have everything sorted you are not a loser.

- It gives a step by step plan for getting on your feet.

- New gradulate specifices aside, it gives useful philosophical tips even to those who have been in the job market a little while.

- Best of all it is extremely and refreshingly realistic. The author doesn't expect you to change your personality and suddenly become a better, motivated person. Her strong advice against perfectionism and beating yourself up for past mistakes is invaluable when you are feeling bewildered and down on yourself.

5 out of 5 stars A life saver   July 8, 2008
i thought I was alone! I did do the careers things provided by the university and after a half hearted attempt i got a job. i was in the job for 6 months and it was so not for me at all a personal hell in fact, as I grabbed the 1st thing after university. I did not have a clue what to do next, or how to do it. forced to move back with my mum, I was obviously in a downward spiral, working in a bar and temping being more in despair and the family not understanding or knowing what to do. . i bought the book and devoured it in a day!!! This book made me realise I was not a freak. Others have done it too! and what I was feeling and going trough was not unusual. now I feel confident to make the next steps.

5 out of 5 stars Finally a career guide that didn't put me to sleep!   July 2, 2008
This book has provided structure & inspiration with the dollop of humour that has been missing from other career guides I have read. I highly recommend it.

5 out of 5 stars No more excuses for graduates - get off the sofa and get a life!   June 16, 2008
Dude, Where's My Career? is a no-nonsense breath of fresh air. Correctly aimed at the majority of grads who are unsure and unfocused when it comes to taking a tentative first step up the slippery career ladder, this career Bible makes mincemeat of the rest of the market. Practical advice and tips on how to progress once you've read the book abound. I wish to God this had been out when I graduated because it makes perfect sense and will arm you with the information you need to make a positive move in the right direction. Buy it - you'll never look back.

5 out of 5 stars Totally relevant and very up-to-date.   June 16, 2008
Unlike many career guides that focus on the hypothetical, this book really gets to grips with the situation Graduates face on leaving University. A must for any new job seekers!
