Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Interesting notes by a great writer.   June 17, 2007

A rather interesting easy going list of notes, I love Flaubert's stories; they are so deep and beautiful in essence. I will only recommend this book to the lovers of literature. For me it was interesting to read his notes from a trip to the desert. One may say that from a writer's point of view life is fascinating in the smallest details. Even the sundown with its gamut of hues and colors fascinated him. It's a journey back in time and space. It makes one to reminisce upon Flaubert's reminisces. However, I do not think that this book should have been published separately; I think it was owed to be published with other writings by Flaubert. In fairness, Flaubert deserves better than this, he was a great storyteller after all.
