Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Lovely   December 9, 2004
'Un Coeur Simple'/'A Simple Heart' is such a beautiful story. Felicite, Mme Aubain's servant, is disappointed and abandoned by everything and everyone she loves, apart from Loulou, the family's parrot. The ending is wonderful.

1 out of 5 stars boring!   January 8, 2004

I have to write an essay on this book as part of my degree. It is the most boring and uneventful book I have ever read- the characters are one-dimentional (the main character, Felicite, in particular) and the plot is wafer-thin. In fact, I am not surprised this is one of Flaubert's less recognised books, it's complete pap!
