Intelligently written, and yet a gripping read June 18, 2008 Intelligently written, fascinating and well researched tales, and yet a gripping read. I could not put it down!
Well recommended.
A real eye-opener June 16, 2008 It has opened my eyes to a completely new side of Paris. I have now read about the city from all sorts of historical perspectives away from the standard tourist traps. I don't know Paris at all well, but it gives such a different view to my preconceptions. I can't wait to get to Paris to explore!
Amazing Hidden Paris! March 9, 2008 This book has revealed a completely different Paris to me. And I know Paris quite well. With great authority, Gregor Dallas shows us a Paris of medieval murkiness, revolutionary tales, scandalous liasons of the early thirties, and much more. He makes the streets talk. I can't wait until my next visit!
