4 out of 5 stars Reviving!   November 17, 2008
I have read a lot of Katie Fforde books by now, and I found The Rose Revived an enjoyable read. The three women who become friends after meeting at an unconventional job interview for cleaning jobs, are each very different characters - all very likeable. They all have money troubles in common, and end up living on a narrowboat together for a time. Between them they set up their own cleaning business, though this isn't the main focus of the novel. Really, each young woman has to find her thing in life, which they do by the end of the book, along with a man of course! They all seem to be very good at problem solving too. Fforde does insightful detail and humour very well.

3 out of 5 stars Easy to read, but the plot is very see-through   August 2, 2008
Nicely written and easy to read. Okay for light reading, but will not really tax your brain. Not one of Katie Ffordes best, but if you like her writing style you will probably like this.
Plot is very see-through. Guessed what was going to happen almost straight away, which made it a bit boring unfortunately.

5 out of 5 stars My Favorite Katie Fforde book   November 6, 2006

This is my favorite book by Ms. Fforde, and I've read almost everything I could find written by her. Reading about these three young women who are trying to figure out their lives really struck a chord in me. It's a book I enjoy reading again and again. All three heroines have spunk, and the friendship they build with each other is inspiring. The book hops around following the different storylines of May, Harriet, and Sally as they try to solve their financial woes, and not only do they find themselves, but they also unexpectedly find romance along the way. It's a fun, easy read when you need a little bit of a pick-me-up.

5 out of 5 stars Another super read!   November 26, 2003

Katie Fforde has done it again! This book made me laugh out loud! I have read most of Ms. Fforde's books(and loved them as well!), and had to wait a while to get this one, but it was well worth it!! This author has a great talent in bringing her characters to life, and making them seem like people you might know! If you're looking for a fun story, with amusing characters, The Rose Revived(or any other Katie Fforde book) is what you need!!

5 out of 5 stars Not quite as described in the "blurb"   March 15, 2001

The cleaning service really isn't the focus of this book, instead it's a study of the complex relationships of three very different women (and their men!) I'm such a lover of Katie Fforde's works, I can't be objective - but this book manages the difficult task of balancing three very different stories with sensitivity and humor. While I don't love this book as much as I do "Living Dangerously" or "Wild Designs", I did re-read it - always a good sign!
