5 out of 5 stars A heart breaking yet heart warming story of love and sacrifice   July 6, 2008

This author has a gift for storytelling - I couldn't put this book down and my heart was racing to find out what would happen next. Highly recommended

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful, sensitively - written story   July 6, 2008

A Thousand Splendid Suns was a great read; I just couldn't put it down. The characterisation was really good and a real empathy for the characters built up. I became really anxious as I was nearing the end in case some other tragedy befell the characters. The 'happy' ending brought tears to my eyes.

5 out of 5 stars a thousand splendid suns   July 4, 2008
having read Kite Runner I wasnt expecting, but was hoping for another brilliantly thought provoking emotional book- and thats what I got. Simply fantastic. I cried, I smiled, it made me think. You have to read this.

5 out of 5 stars Superb   July 3, 2008
This book should be introduced as mandatory reading material in schools. It was very well written. The author cleverly gives enough detail without having to be graffic but you very much get the point. I could happily read this book again and I don't think I've ever said that about a book. I'm going to get the Kite Runner now as I hear good things about it.

5 out of 5 stars Unforgettable   June 28, 2008

After being overwhelmed by Hosseini's The Kite Runner I couldn't wait to read his second novel and I wasn't disappointed. An absolute "must read" for all book lovers. Am now just awaiting a third offering.
Hosseini writes with such compassion and conviction he makes you believe you were there in Afghanistan witnessing the whole story.
