Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Crime's Never Been Such Fun   February 7, 2008
Take Sherlock Holmes and Raffles, throw in a touch of Hercule Poirot, and what do you get? Arsene Lupin of course. This book contains the very best of the Arsene Lupin short stories, bringing you a very entertaining read.

Originally created due to the success of Sherlock Holmes, Maurice Leblanc suddenly found that he had struck gold with his very different criminal. Lupin has it all, he has no trouble in getting the ladies, is a con- artist, pickpocket, master of illusion, latter day Robin Hood, cracksmen, burglar and a righter of wrongs.

The first few stories shows how Lupin runs rings around the police force, engineering his own escape from prison and other daring criminal expoits, but nearer the end of this book of short stories we find Lupin actually solving crimes by the use of his keen observation and intelligence. Indeed if Sherlock Holmes had become a criminal he may very well have turned out as Lupin.

If you like something different to the mainstream crime novels you will love this book, as the stories are well written, witty and show many facets of the same character. Be warned though, this book is very addictive reading and you may not be able to put it down.
