Excellent Easy Reading March 20, 2008 'A friend of the family' is well written, very easy to read, yet thought provoking, book. I've read all of Lisa Jewels Books and find her style very entertaining. This one is just as good as the others . The characters are great. I'd thoroughly recommend this book for some light reading.
Lisa Jewel - Friend of the family....Great read! November 26, 2007 Another great book by Lisa Jewel! I enjoyed reading this book so much and the characters were brilliant! I couldn't put it down! :)
Much love Andrea
not very good October 27, 2007 I was a bit disappointed in this. Nothing special and not well written. I really couldn't recommend it
A nice light read August 14, 2007 I hate having to call a book 'nice' but i can't think of a better way of describing this novel. It is an easy read with likeable central characters but there is nothing memorable about it. It makes a change for a chick lit novel to have male central characters but that is the only real surprise. There is no explanation of who the 'mysterious' friend of the famiy is - he just disappear at the end - a lazy plot device (which reminded me of all those 'I woke up and it was all a dream' stories I wrote at school) which left me frustrated. Take it on holiday - read it by the pool with a large drink and then leave it in your hotel room - you won't want to bring it home.
a lovely book April 3, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i really enjoyed this book. i think this author has a great knack of making you actually care about the characters, and therefore care about finishing the book so you can find out what becomes of them!
i'd love to be in a family like the londons, and have a friend like gervaise
