5 out of 5 stars A tale of true bravery and determination   July 21, 2000

When i read this book, what struck me was how selfish and pious i am. This extrodinary women who not only pulled herself through the holocust, managed to save two other lives as well. that says somthing. she was the strength behind Esther and Ellen. When i finished i had tears in my eyes at how her life became such a struggle to cling on to and i know without a shadow of a doubt that i would have let go long ago. Seren, you are one of those truly rare people who will forever be remembered. thankyou.

This is an exceptionally well told personal narritive of the holocaust because not only does seren write about her experience in Ravensbrok, but she also writes of her family struggles and of her prewar and postwar adventures. Do not leave this book sitting in the bookstore, I mean, they didn't kill innocent trees for nothing!!!

5 out of 5 stars A tale of courage and strength   May 25, 1999
This was one of the most moving books I have ever read. It is the story of one woman's courage and strength during one of the most horrendous times in history. It will terrify you, make you cry, make you laugh, inspire you and fill you with hope for mankind. Definitely a must-read.

5 out of 5 stars An incredible story that brought an eye-opening experience!   May 21, 1999
This story made me understand more of how ignorant I was about what really happened to those who suffered in the camps during WWII. Sara Tuvel Bernstein is someone that displayed the most incredible courage and strength at a time when many people could not hang onto their own. Not only is this book incredible, but I have had the greatest of fortunes--Louise Loots Thornton is my English teacher, and I just wanted those who read this book to recognize her patience and hard work along with Ms. Bernstein's to make this story come to life. I honor Ms. Loots for her own strength that it took to bring us Sara's story. The power of the written word . . .!

5 out of 5 stars An amazing story of one woman's survival against the odds   April 14, 1999

I simply could not put down Mrs. Seren Tuvel's book. This is truely one of the best books that I have ever read. This is a truely fine book, written by a remarkable woman who lived to tell of the horrors of the Holocaust and her strong will and determination to survive. This book I would highly reccomend to anyone. It is sad that Mrs. Tuvel-Bernstein passed away some years ago, but her spirit lives on through her amazing story. This is one of the best Holocaust memoirs ever published.
