4 out of 5 stars Food for thought!   May 6, 2008

I am really fascinated by this subject matter. I am not a 'christian' and do not believe in 'God' in the traditional sense of the world. Listening to this , however, I just kind of knew it to be 'true'.
At some point I shall start ACIM. Gary Renard's cd's are actually a good way to intriduce youself to ACIM.
I have given 4 starts as opposed to 5 as I found the recording and voice used for Arten really annoying!!

5 out of 5 stars A must-have for Miracle students   January 31, 2008

This book is a must-have introduction to those students beginning their study on 'A Course in Miracles'. By sharing Renard's transformative experience as he begins to apply the teachings of A Course in Miracles, its profoundly healing and transformative value is exposed. Although the dialogue of this book can be witty at times it essentially transmits radical non-dualist spiritual insights. Your awareness won't be the same once you've read it.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant! - If you are interested in that sort of thing...   August 12, 2007

The style of the book is funny and light which makes it quick and easy to read, yet the content is eye-opening in its message to de-mystify the "mystery" of life and why we are here.
If you've liked books like the Power of Now, Conversations with God, the Seth books, A Little Light on Ascension etc. you will find this book is something like the next step on those kinds of teachings and thinking.

If you are wondering about the meaning of life, or are interested in spiritualism, but organised religion makes you cringe, this book could be for you. In my humble opinion this book, and ones like it, have more potential to help make the world a better place than the Bible has in our contemporary society. For example, if everyone could just forgive everyone else, as the book suggests, there would be much less anger and conflict around.

2 out of 5 stars Thank heaven for total recall   July 31, 2007

So, two people suddenly appear on your sofa from out of nowhere, claiming to be ascended masters and incarnations of people who knew Jesus Christ on a personal basis, while currently functioning as angels. What do you? Obvious - press 'record'.

They spend the next nine years ensuring that you are fully acquainted with the secrets of the universe (a big subject - bound to take a while) and are both really smart and funny, especially the foxy lady angel, who's considerately chosen to materialise as female to add a little sexual chemistry in case you become bored with the 'spiritual' side of the whole thing.

You might wonder how you came to be selected for such intensely focused divine counselling, but your duty now is to somehow share this rare and undiluted knowledge with your fellow man, so - hey, you taped it all - how about writing a book? The career was on the slide anyway...

It turns out there was a book produced in the '60s called A Course In Miracles (aka ACIM), which is even now held in deep reverence within the `seeker' community and proposes a method, through following the 'Course' of the title, of living free from illusion. The author took no responsibility for the writing of it, claiming it was dictated to her by an inner voice - she simply wrote it all down.

The content of ACIM is central to the 'mind-bending conversations' that took place over those nine incredible years of your life, but the really weird thing is, since you taped everything, all you'd have to do to produce your own book is - simply write it all down! Do you see what's happened there? Neat, huh?

The reader may or may not be impressed to know that The Disappearance Of The Universe is presented from the position of Absolute Certainty, but there is no doubt that The Suspension Of Disbelief required to accept its initial pitch must be maintained in order to finish reading it. At least we now have the definitive answer to that pesky old conundrum: does a falling tree make a sound if nobody hears it fall? That's a negative, people. If this news bothers you, be not afraid: the full and divinely authorised explanation is right here.

5 out of 5 stars Entertaining, bonkers, and very sane   March 22, 2007

Curious that the negative review below with similar title is also about the most informative review here about the actual contents of the book! But my experience of the dynamic effect and purpose of this book is just about the opposite to his. This is a book I've been looking for for a long time, to help me make sense of the basic ego-generation of the illusion of the universe, and how to deal with it through forgiveness - of myself, since there is no other. This book works on all levels of perfection and imperfection, a classic in enlightening contradictions like a Zen koan. It is a key to turn to go through the door - then if you want you can throw the book away, or give it to all your friends.
