Badly written, incredibly predictable and extremely boring. Do not waste your time or money.

5 out of 5 stars Gentle and Sweet   July 31, 2008

This is not your usual bonk-fest or bodice-ripper, so when you plan to buy this book, bear in mind what you are looking for. I can only assume the two negative reviews on this novel are based on the fact they were looking for something different.

This is a lovely, gentle story about a woman starting a new life with some gardening references thrown in for good measure!! I found this book to be a very sweet read and left you feeling good afterwards. I am looking forward very much to Julia William's new novel which is out in November.

1 out of 5 stars Dreadful drivel.   June 15, 2008

I'm the sort of person who has mild palpitations if I've nothing available to read, but even I couldn't finish this.
Never have I come across so many self-pitying, whingeing, characters, all in one book. The smug, yet pathetic 'heroine' needs a slap, her feeble, unengaging child needs a week on the naughty step, and the rest of the characters are shallow and un-likeable.
The plot is both predictable and unlikely.
I'm miffed I wasted my money on a book I couldn't finish, and even more miffed that a publisher should foist this tosh on an unsuspecting public.
If you think you've got a book in you; go for it. If Julia Williams can get this rubbish published, we can all do it!

I can only assume that the writers of the previous reviews were friends of the author as this book is simply dreadful.

I really enjoyed this book and was sorry to finish it as I got quite attached to the characters in it.It is just the right sort of book to read during the winter months as the writing makes you feel warm inside.
