1 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this tosh   April 11, 2008

The guidelines for healthy eating - and healthy living - are the broadly same for us all. Eat a mixed diet with lots of grren leafy vegetables. If you are a woman of childbearing age you might consider a folic acid supplement for the sake of the baby.
This book is full of stuff and nonsense. Don't waste your money on this pseudoscience.

Like the reader at the start I too have been just recently diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / M.E

For me it has been a very, very long journey - 10 years !! The fatigue, headaches, muscle pain, not being able to function generally.

At first, my doctors couldn't find out what was wrong with me and I too went under numerous tests for 3 years but to no avail. Then, eventually I was told that I had Hypothyroidism - thank goodness I thought. At last I can do something about it. But 2 & 1/2 years later still nothing much improved.

In fact 2 years ago my body completely shut down to the point where I was unable to even get out of bed let alone much else.

I'm still struggling to this day. However, a college of my husband lent this book to me and astonishingly I could identify and relate to so many of the symptoms. Whilst I am a vegetarian from birth, I do get cravings for meat. Funnily during both my pregnancies I ate chicken and burgers as the cravings were so very strong !! And yet because of my up bringing I'm not used to eating such food. No doubt that it's probably exactly the type of food that I should eat for my well being.

So, I've bought the book.

And having been inspired by my husband's college and the other reader too I've decided to follow this book's recommendations. I have also bought the other books in the series and I can't tell you enough how much it makes sense.

I will come back and let you know how it's going.

5 out of 5 stars worked for me too :)   November 13, 2005

I suffered almost 5 years of very uncomfortable stomach problems, fatigue/tiredness, weight loss/gain as well as many disappointing doctors and hospital visits. During this time I changed my diet many times and after my last operation things seemd to clear up. However I felt I still wasn't eating right!

After reading this book and making my list of foods, seven months have passed, and I can honestly say the information has helped me loose a good deal of excess weight, and kept it steadily low too.

However weight loss was not my goal! I also suffered from chronic heartburn and since the day I started the diet in this book I have had it twice :) on occassions when I strayed from the plan!

I now use this diet as a footprint for testing foods out on myself, it's easier to narrow down what diagrees with me.

well worth the read :)

5 out of 5 stars WORKS FOR ME   October 11, 2005

I don't usually read health books (wouldn't want to die of a misprint) but this gem should be required reading for everyone. I'm a busy urban professional of decent weight, and those watercress and beetroot laden fad diets just don't work for me. The suggestions in this book work rather well and rather quickly, without being a lose-X-pounds-in-X-chapters deal. It has fundamentally changed the way I eat and care for my physique, and I don't seem to miss any interesting foods at all. Can the whole of humanity be divided into a few groups based on blood? You can theorize as much as you want while I feel light and cheerful based on this deceptively simple but priceless info.

5 out of 5 stars Do you want to feel on top of the world   June 23, 2004

This book was recommended to me by a friend whose husband had diabetes, he lost five stones on it - he is Blood Group A, and is fully in control of his diabetes.

Being extremely overweight myself I looked at the book with my daughter, neither of us knew our blood group but we both worked out what we thought we should be by what was written in the book, we checked and Bingo we were both right.

I am an O, the cave man. I was a tea aholic before starting this way of life and drank gallons of black tea. Treat it like being a diabetic, if you are not allowed tea, wheat, pork etc lik me what the heck there are so many other things that you are allowed. This is a way of life that I wont change. By being careful on what you do eat the weight is dropping off , nearly four stones since January, I had tried every other diet imaginable. You can eat so much and the bonus is on day 3 if you are really, really good you get this energy burst. I am full of energy, I thought that my tiredness was due to the excess weight, but it isn't it is due to putting the wrong fuel in, imagine what would happen if you put Diesel in your unleaded Car, it would become sluggish and stop.

I could go on and on I feel like an evangelist, but please give it a go at first sight it isnt easy but work at it, you will soon find meals that you enjoy.

Michelle
