2 out of 5 stars a bad review for something i love.   October 7, 2008

I've had the 4 Gb san disk for a little over a year now-maybe 18months and lasted whilst i was travlling in and out of machines but i had the same as someone else where the black plastic section snapped apart but then i clipped it back together and it seemed fine.
since then it kept tkaing itself offline whithout warnign and the orange light going out. yesterday it took itself offline and i pulled it out to reload only to find the metal setcion still in the machine and all of my photos for the past six months, my website and my work lost. i'm mortificed, it's come straight off of the green elec board, so maybe i'll get my soldering iron out but failing that the USB stick i thought was amazing at the beginning has failed me. i came on here to buy another one but after more bad reviews i think im going to go for one with a emtal case!

5 out of 5 stars No Problems Here   October 4, 2008
As with all gadgets and gizmos some people will get a duffer. Luckily, that never seems to happen to me. This is a great memory stick, 8GB for under 11 - amazing value.

I have no worries about the quality as it seems sturdy enough to me. As with all this kind of thing I've created a folder on my laptop and backup my entire stick, that way if it does go south I still have all my important data.

Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 stars Very useful and well put together   September 20, 2008
I have owned this article for one month. I was impressed by the speed of file transfer. Documents and individual photos (2.5 Mb jpeg files) are transfered almost instantly.Backing up 3.75Gb of assorted photo and video files to the flash drive took about 3 and a half minutes.

The build is good quality, if a little bit rattly. I accidentally stood on it when it fell from my bag and it didn't break so it passed the big clumsy oaf test.

The U3 software seems to be mainly fairly rubbishy games but is worth looking into as there are some specialist applications including encryption and stand alone internet browsers which I have no use for but may be just the ticket for you.

4 out of 5 stars What's the hype   September 5, 2008

After spending a wet afternoon, surfing the net looking for a large capacity memory stick, I came across the SanDisk Cruzer Micro 8GB U3 Readyboost (what a mouthfull!).

I read the reviews and there was an obvious conflict of views from those who loved it, to those who have lost data.

At the offered price, it was worth a punt.

The device came and I plugged it in. It then proceeded to try and install the U3 software. Didn't want to do this as this time and I have no need of the software.

It's main use is to store music and video files. The transfer rate is pretty good and I can transfer 5Gb of data in a few minutes.

Even better, I can play the video files directly from the device without any lag or hiccups.

The retractable connector seems quite sturdy and means you have no cap to lose.

It comes with a keyring spring, but am not too sure whether I want this on a key ring.
