Very disappointing November 27, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this to replace a flatbed scanner which was very cumbersome for scanning 35mm slides. The results were disappointing in the extreme - far worse than the flatbed. Using the software supplied, the results were very bad. I tried driving it from within Photoshop and quality improved marginally but nowhere near to being acceptable: light blue skies turned a blank white while no detail was retained in shadows at all. The results are unusable and it was a waste of money - I'm now using the flatbed again. The company's technical support needed two messages to respond and blamed the software.
Why the negatives? November 27, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not intended to be a pun but I have had absolutely no problems with this item. It took minutes to install and I had run through my first set of negatives in less than half an hour.
The one click button on top of the machine makes it very simple to scan a strip of negatives.
Don't be put off by the negative comments (B/W or colour).
********************************************************************* One week on and I am even more delighted with this scanner. Not only have I gone through a stack of old negatives but I have also bodged it to handle instamatic negatives (126 size?).
Veho VFS 004 Slide Scanner - Terrible Quality November 17, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The quality of scanning is appalling. Save the money and take your slides to a shop and have them scanned. I bought this to scan old family slides for my Dad. I was really looking forward to receiving it and was extremely disapointed by the results. I am sending it back, it is not fit for purpose. The only good thing about it is the packaging.
works, even with Vista November 17, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Ordered this nice little device late on Friday, it was delivered this morning and set-up on my PC was relatively easy. Would have given the scanner 5 stars for easy use. However like mentioned by some previous reviewers, whitebalance is a bit a problem: most of my test negatives (from 2002) did come out much too blue. Sometimes this is easily fixed with photoshop, but still hope to find a faster way to get close to the original before converting a larger number of negatives. Have not tried slides yet.Veho VFS-004 5MP 35mm Negative & Slide Scanner
Works like magic! November 17, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was looking for a scanner so I could put all the old photos of my late father-in-law and the grandchildren onto a digital photo frame for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I was a bit nervous after reading the previous reviews but have to say I plugged the scanner into my laptop two days ago and have had a lovely time easily and quickly converting photos. It's a doddle to use, the photos are coming out more or less exactly like the originals and I know my M-I-L is going to be absolutely thrilled, as am I. I'm going to get a lot of use (and pleasure) out of this marvellous little machine.
