A play about the destructing power of lust May 13, 2002

Phedra is a neo-classical revival of Euripides 'Hippolytus'. Although, it is a tragedy and is written in verse, it is still relevant to anybody who has been controlled by unrequited love and jealousy. It's about the force of passion and how it can overrule someone's sanity and reason. It is also concerned with opposites and irony because not all of the charcters can tell the difference between innocence and guilt.
The main theme of Phedra is predestination because Phedra says, 'No one can fight their destiny.' This makes the play deeply thought provoking because it is up to us to decide if Phedra is an innocent victim of the Gods or an evil witch.
I recommend 'Phedra' because it is full of dramatic intensity and show's just how powerful desire can be.
