A classic account of the rarely covered mezzogiorno November 9, 2002 27 out of 28 found this review helpful
A classic, if somewhat dated, account of some Italian regions that are hardly discussed in the mountain of books on Italy. Morton's style ties both a narrative description with historical anecdotes, probably familiar to those who have read his other books. The book was very helpful in planning a trip through Calabria, Basilicata, Puglia, and Campania.
