We have a motorhome and use these guides to get to see the off-beat bits we didn't know about. It takes you around a small region and introduces you to its local history and places to see on the way. If I have one criticism of these books, it is that although they do have a small panel saying how many miles (kms) between one point and another, when actually reading that section of directions, it will say sometimes obscure instructions without giving you any indication of whether you have to travel a few hundred yards to the next instruction or a few miles. In France with roadsigns actually ON the actual road itself, this can be often difficult....BUT... the use of a GPS really helps as they give you in advance (or my Nuvi does) a note of the road number so you can be ready for the turn....

Excellent book and so far - having followed about 19 of the tours we are getting to know France a lot better.
