Always hard to review a guide book without going into specific details, but as I bought it with a specific trip in mind, it more than suited my purpose. Trekking information wise, it didn't cover the area of the High Atlas that I was visiting, so a seperate book was needed, but Footprint always come up trumps with up to date information & detailed history & culture sections. Very adequate for Marrakesh, but would advise anyone trekking to buy specific trekking guides (also available from Amazon!).
An excellent choice for independent-minded souls March 28, 2003 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
The Footprints guide was a brilliant choice. It offers a variety of information about culture, tourist sites, practical information, places to eat, sleep and shop. It doesn't assume that you are travelling on a low budget , but offers a variety of information for a variety of travellers, and has some hidden gems up its sleeve. It does not tell you what to do, but does inspire you to explore the place under your own steam, offering just enough advice to make your adventure safe and enjoyable. It wasn't flawless - the maps were difficult to follow, for instance - but I am chuffed I had it in my suitcase.
