5 out of 5 stars Unforgettable weekend   January 12, 2006
5 out of 6 found this review helpful

We were given a copy of this book before we went to Beirut and it was invaluable - we had an amazing weekend away which would have been unachievable without it. Every recommendation it made was spot on, the prices were right and the crowd were as expected, the pictures of all the restaurants and bars helped us make a quick decision about where to go. Without this book we would have been totally lost - there is no other guide on the market to Beirut (that we found) and this really helped us have an unforgettable weekend.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   October 5, 2005

Disappointing. I was hoping for something with some style and panache, but what we have is very static and self-satisfied. Hedonism is not just a matter of drinking a lot and parrotting what one has read in Rolling Stone magazine. Some sensuality and sensitivity might have helped.
