5 out of 5 stars The Champagne lovers bible   December 9, 2007

Richard Juhlin is often the subject of conversation when my husband and I visit Paris, a treat we enjoy whenever possible. Champagne, like fine fur, is one of life's true luxuries. It's not for everyone, but for those who truly appreciate this ambrosia, 4000 Champagnes is an absolute must buy reference book. Sabrage on the Champs-Elysees, Heaven!

5 out of 5 stars The comprehensive guide to Champagne   May 22, 2007

Travelling in Champagne visiting champagne houses as well as growers they all have one thing in common; they all refer to Richard Juhlin as the golden palate of Champagne. In ten short years Richard have emerged as the authority in champagne tasting. Richard early decided on putting as much effort in charting the anonymus growers wines as well as the established houses. Richard have tasted well over 5,000 different champagnes with a bottle of Pol Roger 1928 identified as the greatest ever. With the guidance of Richard Juhlin you will find it easy to differentiate between the 200 champagne houses standard wines, vintage wines and prestige wines. You will be guided to the thousands of growers equally good alternatives, and you will find bargains at a fraction of the prices charged by the great champagne houses. Remember that most of the champagnes produced by the champagne houses is made from grapes from the growers, so when they start to bottle their own champagnes... You can use this book as a guide to champagne, as a buyers guide to champagne. You can also enjoy it simply as a good read and an introduction to one of the most mythical and well tasting of all the wine regions.
