Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars But my wife would give it 5 stars   March 6, 2008
An American living in France, Charpentier here documents her travels across the country (though with more emphasis on the south) visiting the seasonal fairs and festivals that celebrate the harvest and preparation of regional food specialities. These cover the predictable - Truffles, Wine, Garlic - and the more surprising - Goat, Oyster and Sauerkraut. The book is organised month by month, and allows Francophiles a little taste of what they're missing, to tide them over until next time. Well written and produced, the format does become a touch repetitious over 36 entries. More armchair traveller than guide book, there is enough information in the book's gazetteer to guide those who want to replicate the experience or to find other fairs that match the timing and destination of their own visits.
