5 out of 5 stars A wealth of walking!   May 4, 2007

The cover attracted me to this book - blue sea, a castle, megaliths, rolling countryside, etc. - and I love the lay-out of walks with good photos, clear maps and directions, and links to other places in the area. There seems to be an enormous variety of walks included all over Morbihan (which is basically southern Brittany), featuring coast, country, old towns, river valleys, archaeological sites, chateaux, chapels, etc. The shortest walk is under 4kms and the longest 15kms, with the whole range in between as well. Lots of information about the places on the routes is given too, including local legends and historical background. Summaries of practical details like location, parking, level of difficulty, rough estimate of time are given at the start of each walk, plus a summary of the sights and atmosphere so you know what to expect. Just browsing the book is almost as good as getting out there and walking! I can recommend Walk 24 at Lac de Guerledan and Walk 14 around the megaliths at Erdeven, but that's just so far... there are 34 other walks in the book!
