The "Je ne sais quoi de Paris" January 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having been to Paris many times before, the need for a guidebook did not strike me as a necessity, but when I got this guide as a birthday present, I was most pleasantly surprised with how much I didn't know about this beautiful city! The information you get from it is comprehensive and thorough, and when reading it, you do not feel weighed down by a mountain of information, but rather a new sense of understanding, made easier to read by the writers witty and charming take on the city lifestyle. If you are a newbie to the city, or even if you are a seasoned visitor, I would advise you all to get this guide, if only for the maps, which are all you need to find your way around the city!
Worst guide book I've ever read June 29, 2004 6 out of 20 found this review helpful
Do not buy this guide book. The editor tries to be amusing throughout - unfortunately his style is juvenile and begins to annoy after around the second paragraph (does any body think raisiny raison d'etre is funny?). Hopeless maps, useless information - would have been better off without it. Will stick to Rough Guide in future.
Expand your horizons and your waist December 20, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
As I resident of this beautiful city for two years, food has become not a distraction but an obsession. But where do you go in a City where food is a religion? This book is the Bible! Whatever your budget, area, or preference you'll find somewhere to go! I have used it for a long time, and have never been disappointed. Buy it and use it with confidence. Bon Appetit!
The only guide you'll need September 27, 2000 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
My friend and I went to Paris this past March. We're both very different people but we always found places in Time Out that we both could agree on going to. Whether it was a museum, a club, or a restaurant the recommendations in the book were always right on the money. I'm going to Lisbon, Portugal this November and I will definately buy the Time Out Lisbon.
Useful. Compact. Fun. Informative. January 20, 2000 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
All you could want from a travel guide, really. Lots of up-to-date information on both practicalities and amusement presented in a readable, compact style. The sort of city guide I like best -- assumes you're capable of sorting out the basics yourself and helps you concentrate on getting more out of a visit. Highly recommended.
