5 out of 5 stars An essentail guide for campers.   January 30, 2005

Alan Rogers campsite guide has led us to fantastic gems in the camping world from hidden, off the beaten track, cheap municipal campsites to 4 star castel camping sites with chateaus. (You'll have to find those ones yourself as we want to keep them secret!) Directions and a handy map make campsites easy to find.
With young children we require quiet campsites perfect for them and perfect for us. Thanks to Alan Rogers we can avoid campsites with tour operators and teenage discos. I'm about to buy this year's edition ready for summer holiday planning.

1 out of 5 stars Don't rely on this book   September 30, 2004

When this book arrived I thought it seemed great and spent hours reading it and planning our holiday. Thank goodness we didn't book ahead as all the sites we visited were very disappointing. We ended up walking away from them all and finding our own site by just driving around.

The guide seems to favour very cramped sites and some were not up to the standards of cleanliness that we found elsewhere. France is full of fantastic campsite - why are they not in this book?
