Murders and news reporting. March 4, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The hero in this book is a female reporter for local newspaper. One of her assignments is writing about the Starlight theatre that is about to be torn down. Pretty straightforward, but when a body is discovered in the theatre, she finds herself investigating a murder that happened three quarters of a century ago. Her boyfriend is a cop and is officially looking at the murder, which puts her in awkward situation. Then we have ties to the mob and a sudden death of the character that had fought hardest to prevent the theatre from being torn down. I like this book. It has humour. It's one of those crime stories where the heroine has her problems. Her boss wants front-page news, today. Her boyfriends' ex-wife shows up. People are lying left and right. But the characters are not very deep, they don't leave lasting impressions and there are some small holes in the storyline. If you're looking for book that is entertaining and easy to read, then this one is good choice.
