Classic, but read the fine print!!! March 16, 2007

I bought this book for some sing along fun with my young family. I'm not remotely religious, but there are some "classics" here that I enjoyed singing at school in the 1980's and I was surprised by how many I still knew well.
There are two complete edtions on offer, so I went for this the cheaper version, as I couldn't see any reason not to. When it arrived I realised it was cheaper because it is the WORDS ONLY edition - a fact which you can't quite make out from the picture (or at least I couldn't). Anyway, I now have the other edition too which has the WORDS AND MUSIC which helps if you want to play along as I did.

I firmly recommend this - the amount of 'Come and Praise" parties I've thrown since I got this have shot up. A rare journey back to childhood where you can bond with long-forgotten friends. Even if you dont like them very much you csn tolerate them with these hymns!

the complete come and praise is a quick way to reminisce the primary school days. It also helps you to finish the songs you sang in assembly but forgotten everything but half the chorus.Go on buy it and remember times before council tax.

Come and Praise, from BBC EDUCATION, is an exciting anthology of hymns for use with schools, church and youth choirs. The complete Come and Prise publishes all the songs from the original 'Come and Praise 1' and 'Come and praise 2' - and the songs are grouped into: The created world; The life of Jesus, Praise and thanksgiving; The journey of life; Songs of worship; The human family; Caring for the world; Day by day; Seasons; Christmas; Easter; Harvest; Peace and includes almost 150 songs for all ages.The songs are from a wide selection of cultures: some traditional, some Asian and Caribbean, some from pop traditions. The music has been written especially simply so that it can be used in a variety of situations, with a variety of accompanists. An extra stave is often present for tuned-percussion, if desired. Come and Praise broke new ground, that is to lower the divide between Christianity and other faiths. Although there are obvious biblical references, some hymns can be a reflection of the world around us.
These songs will be known to a new generation of children.

If you are a person that enjoys singing with children, the come and praise song books are a must have! The songs are particularly suitable for school assemblies and, guaranteed, there will be a song or hymn that you can find to sing with children for any occassion or season of the year. There is a huge selection of songs and there will be songs to appeal to all tastes, but most importantly, the children love them! Accompany with the music on guitar or piano, or purchase the accompanying CD for an enjoyable performance.
