4 out of 5 stars Reno est magnifique   February 11, 2006

A gently amusing film with very watchable characters in all the roles. I havent seen the English language version but find it hard to believe that it could surpasse, or even be equal to, the original.

Not the gretest comedy of all time either but one to watch when the rain is pouring down and life sucks.

Definitely one to be watched in the original French language and please please lets hope they never release a dubbed English version.

I was not in a great rush to see this film, having known about it for a while but being unconvinced that a French comedy would really work well for me. But it does, brilliantly. The subtitles do not detract at all from the humour, it had me laughing most of the way through. Superb acting and limited but effective special effects back up a decent, if basic, plot and and witty script. It is an idea that could have (and I believe has) been very badly done by Hollywood, but these guys get it spot on. Don't let the subtitles delay your enjoyment, I wish I had watched it ages ago!!

This is a wonderful film. It is well thought out and very very funny. The only drawback is the subtitles - this would be a good film dubbed into English. There is a lot of visual slapstick humour centered around two medieval characters, a Knight (Jean Reno) and his lowly manservant being sent into the 20th century by accident and meeting up with their respective ancestors. It has a good plot and the supporting characters are very good too.

Do not confuse this with the sunsequently remade American version (The Visitors) which isn't half as funny and rather over Americanised.

5 out of 5 stars The funniest film I have seen   September 17, 2004

Put it bluntly this is the funniest film I have ever seen despite the subtitles.

Very clever plot places mediaeval knight and his baldrick into the 20th century and all their adventures.
