And Your Mother Too May 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A very good mexican teen road movie whereby two best friends get the oppertunity to take an older married woman with them to 'heaven's mouth'. The most ingenious touch is the anonymous 3rd person narrative, whose entrance is continually signalled by the films loss of sound. The theme of sex is to the fore from the word go and perhaps becomes a little too much. However neither this, nor the rather sudden twist at the end of the film can prevent it from succeeding splendidly!
great film!! May 21, 2008 i'm going through a foreign film phase atm and really wanted to see this, so when my eye fell on it in the library i had to rent it. One word - beautiful. This film appears to be an underlooked and underestimated gem and i urge everybody to see it, it is a rare glimpse into both teenage and adult minds and is a really brillianty told and developed film.
Incredible... May 3, 2008 This film actually blew me away. I didn't expect it to be at all like it was. This film may come off at first sight as slightly pornographic, but actually the sex serves the purpose of highlighting the boys' inexperience and youth. I would thoroughly reccomend this film to anyone who can handle the sex, as it is a moving and thought provoking film.
Top Ten of All Time March 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This has to be one of the best coming of ages of films in its genre. I've read reviews that compare this to American Pie but please do not let this put you of.
This is an intelligent, well written and brilliantly acted film. Its stars the wonderful Maribel Verdu as its central female character, who is charmastic and a joy to watch.
The story centers losely on two breakthrough performaces by its two male leads (Diego Luna and Gael Garcia Bernal) and their quest to find the ultimate beach. Centering on character interactions, humans emotions and the power of absolute honesty, this is truly a wonderful film.
