5 out of 5 stars Excellent   October 15, 2008
Having read quite a few very average books lately I am relieved to say that finally I found a good one! I was fed up of starting these mediocre books, reading 200 or so pages and not really caring what happened, so I was delighted to discover this one, where from the very beginning I was desperate to know what happened.
As for all the negative comments about the ending being a disappointment and far fetched, I don't agree at all. I thought the ending was good, the whole plot was excellent, although I did have an inkling about one of the "baddies", that is, the one revealed in the final twist. Apart from the thrilling climax, it was a great read throughout, with an intriguing mystery and plenty suspense. I loved it and would definitely try another of Linwood Barclay's novels.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointed   October 15, 2008

I wanted to like this book. I really did. It started well and I had high hopes. However, the ending was one of the most far-fetched pieces of drivel I've had the misfortune to read. Just when I was beginning to think the story couldn't get more ridiculous; it did. What a shame. Why R&J recommended it is beyond me. I'd give it a miss if I were you.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent - couldnt put it down!   October 14, 2008

I loved this book. It only took me a day to read it as I just couldnt put it down. I found myself putting off other things so I could continue reading this. Excellent, gripped from the start and all the way through to the end.

4 out of 5 stars A good thrilling read   October 12, 2008

This book grabbed me from the word go. The easy and quick pace throws you straight into the story and takes you on a roller coaster ride to the end. Nearly every chapter leaves you wanting to know what happens next. A good thriller from start to finish.

3 out of 5 stars Good half a book but the wheels fell off!   October 11, 2008

The book starts well, we get engaged with the characters and the central mystery seems genuainely puzzling. That mystery appears to get darker and even more mysterious as the book proceeds.

But then the plot starts to part company with reality. I read to the end with an increasing sense of disbelief!

In summary: great page turner! You will keep reading to the end - but you might look back and think the ending was just a bit silly and far fetched
