1 out of 5 stars a must have   January 13, 2004

me and my girlfriend went to paris in november and i bought this map of the city. it was the best thing i could have got to find my way around. the metro system map is brilliant, i was a little apprehensive about using the metro but it is so easy to use and cheap that i was sad to say goodbye to it! the street map is good but it is always going to be a problem getting around on the streets so i suggest using the metro to get around. get a lonely planet guide to paris and you will be told all the sights and the nearest metro station and the opening times and costs, this enables you to plan your trip well. this map is great, viva la metro systeme!!

3 out of 5 stars Rugged but not detailed enough   October 31, 2002

This very handy map [fits well into a jeans back pocket] is tough and resilient, handling well even after extended use in wet weather. The production values are high-clever use of colour and the laminated finish add up to a great looking and handling product.
The Metro map and Paris peripherique maps are good for orientating yourself and the detailed map of Montmatre is useful [if you can find a quiet corner up there to pull out and study a map].
However, the map to which you turn most often in central Paris, the detailed city centre map just isn't detailed enough. Many street names are omitted, including some fairly large and significant streets that are handy for navigating. This seems particularly the case in the Marais area, for some reason.
Lonely Planet's Paris guidebook contains more detailed [but harder to use] maps which I found I had to use as a back-up to this product.
Overall-great value and fine if you don't stray too far off the main tourist tracks.

5 out of 5 stars Lonely PLanet keeps it simple but effective.   March 26, 2001

In true Lonely Planet style, this fold-out map of Paris provides an invaluable resource when visiting the beautiful, but often confusing city of Paris. By keeping it simple, and providing only relevent information, Lonely Planet keeps themselves one step ahead of the rest.
