5 out of 5 stars Best investment I've made in language learning for a child   September 2, 2008
I bought the Serge French learning pack for my 4 year old (now 5) and it has been an unqualified success. He loves watching the programmes and singing along to the CD of songs and has mastered some French basics including conversational phrases, numbers and colours. Some of the activities and material in the book he will grow into. I had tried a few books and CDs to give him an early start in a foreign language and this is far and away the best investment I have made. Very effective and very good value. I wish there was a follow up (or some other languages).

5 out of 5 stars C'est super!   July 30, 2008
My kids aged 2, 4 and 6 all love this, and they're all picking up some French. The CD is great in the car for a long journey. Animation on the DVD isn't quite Pixar, but it's OK and the kids don't mind. We've had great value out of this already, and we haven't really introduced the games and the book yet.

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended   July 7, 2008
My daughter loves this DVD. At 2 and a half she can already speak some French - more than I could aged seven!

We bought this after deciding not to invest in Muzzy, on grounds of cost. I can only agree with other reviewers, it is a fantastic way to introduce small children to the French language. The themes are designed to appeal to that age group (pets, games, food and so on) and there are plenty of genuinely funny jokes which the parents will enjoy too! Singing along with the catchy songs is a great way to consolidate vocabulary and refine pronunciation.

The only downside is that the CGI is not up to the contemporary "Pixar" standard. But, again, my two-year-old doesn't seem to mind...!

Superb value for money and deserves to be more widely known. Merci beaucoup, Serge - genial!

5 out of 5 stars What a result   June 23, 2008
Our four year old loves this and keeps coming out with phrases in French. Given the option of watching Thomas, Bob the Builder or his French DVD, he asks for the French DVD.

We were out the other day and he started giving me directions in French... we've gone through various books with him, but this definitely is the winner. A great combination of English explanation and French for them to pick up on... I just wish there was a sequel, or at least more episodes of Serge and Pascal.

5 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on Muzzy   May 17, 2008

As a French speaker myself, I am constantly on the lookout for a way to help my four children (8,7,5,3) learn French. They have watched Muzzy for a couple of years now (on and off, obviously!) and have learnt virtually nothing, even with help from me. I have friends who say the same thing. My children learnt more in their first couple of hours watching Serge. Don't believe the BBC's hype and don't waste your money on Muzzy.
