Terrible October 6, 2007 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I love girls aloud they have good tunes and are brilliant. But this album is awful the traks have been cut short and in my view it is a terrible greatist hits. DON'T BUT THIS ALBUM.
Buy this!!! March 21, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this dvd as I really enjoyed their Greatest hits album and I was blown away by the girl's performance. Not only do they look great but more importantly, this proves they can really sing! Sound fantastic, can't tell the difference to listening to them in concert or on their singles. They give an amazing performance-great dance routines and customes. I have watched it over and over again, quite good to work out to! It was nice to see them throw in a few covers, and I think they did justice to the songs. Highlight for me was watching Cheryl's dancing, she definately stands out from the rest but maybe I'm biased because she's my favourite? All in all, you won't be disappointed and I'm very tempted to pay a bucket load for wembley tickets on ebay now!
Live and (a)loud November 20, 2006 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
This concert, recorded during Girls Aloud's recent Chemistry tour, shows just how far they've come since Popstars: The Rivals. The girls' vocals and routines are more assured, the sets more spectacular and the costume changes come thick and fast. A terrific performance, especially the inspired cover of 'I Predict A Riot'. The girls don't take themselves too seriously; they are quite obviously having great fun and enjoying every minute. In response to the previous reviewer: don't worry, the band are not splitting up - they're due back in the studio to record their next album in the spring. As for the lingering shots of the girls' male dancers, well why not? Girls Aloud have a huge number of female fans not to mention a devoted gay following, so why shouldn't they have some eye candy to enjoy during the show? I'm sure the Girls themselves would approve.
P.S. Many thanks to the person who let me know where to find the 'Long Hot Summer' video - you're a star!
Good, but not as good as being there November 15, 2006 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Just got this DVD - having been 7 rows from the end of the catwalk at the Cardiff show on this tour, the DVD was going to have a tough act to follow. The sound's a bit thin, and the direction is ok. Nothing wrong with a few close-ups of the girls in my opinion, although I actually thought the DVD direction was quite reserved compared to what was shown on the big screens at the gig itself. I've actually knocked a star off for there not being enough of them!!!
Worth a tenner, or whatever its being sold for on here, but probably not as good an all round package as the Live at Hammersmith DVD though.
not for kids anymore, but great as usual November 13, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Is this the final release before they split? There was talk last year that a greatest hits was coming along with one or 2 single releases - well we've now had the greatest hits and a single. (I think we're alone now will be out soon as the second).
This live concert is a new Girls Aloud - Chemistry was the death of their teen pop style and was a move into more adult territory, This dvd continues that. While many of the songs performed are the same, the outfits are much more revealing and there is a prominent sexuality in their performance, whereas on the last dvd it wasn't so apparent.
What is worrying in this dvd is the editing and camera work - there is an unnatural amount of close-ups focusing on boobs, butts and crotches. The editing and camera work of Long hot summer for example shows endless close-ups of the girls crotches for no apparent reason.
The music is universal and the live audience comprises all ages but its moving away from being universal.
The performances are outstanding as usual and there aren't really any surprises. As with the last dvd there is too much focus on male dancers - no one cares about them!! They are a background filler. A lot of the dialogue provided between songs by the girls is also almost identical to the last tour.
For some reason this disk wouldn't play in my set top player (??) so I had to watch via the computer.
18 live tracks + 3 promo videos (biology, see the day, whole lotta history) 130 minutes. Dodgy packaging (as usual) but a nice fold out photo inside as the booklet.
Update: Response to M.D Smart asking about missing videos. The Long Hot summer promo video WAS realeased on dvd - it appeared on their last Live DVD - "What will the neighbours say", you can find it under the Bonus Features menu. The only missing clips are the two latest - Something kinda ooh and I think we're alone now
