je ne parle pas francais March 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
the french version of "cant speak french" was a bold move by the girls and the record company and despite the french teacher not making it particularly easy for the girls to get the right dialect the girls sing this french version like its their own language and my god they sound sexy (YES YES YES.....) singing this as they do it so well, this is an excellent version of "cant speak french" which i cant recommend enough. The cover of "with every heartbeat" (recorded c/o radio one live lounge) is quite different to robyn's recent version but is arguably much better as its sung much more softly and thus sounds much better for it.
my hero's March 28, 2008 the tangled up album is a true "every track is a corker" album and this 3rd release(cant speak french) just goes to prove how good GIRLS ALOUD really are as its instantly infectious and with the lyrics & tempo keeping the pace moving at a booty shakin high speed youll only get tired of it when you can no longer keep up with it but beware of HOXTON HEROS as here the girls show their true talent and youll be back up and giggling on the dance floor before you knew what hit you, 2 cracking tracks and a must for all ages
The Girls at their poptastic best - another pure winner! March 17, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful

Full of funky guitar, Can't Speak French is the 3rd single from the Girls' simply amazing album - Tangled Up. The album was clearly one of the best of 2007 and with all the critics proclaiming this song as yet another pop classic in the making for the Girls, you could totally see why they went with it for a single.
It's infectious, very radio-friendly and plus, how could you not fall in love with a song where the first line is 'i wait underneath the covers all night beside you' - Nadine once again delivers a flawless vocal performance and by the time the chorus kicks in with all the Girls, you find yourself, as with all of their singles, totally addicted.
Along with the video and the impressive French language version of the song, you also get the haunting Passions mix on here - one of their most adventurous yet, it's dark and brooding and packs a killer bassline. Amazing!
I'm also really glad they decided to put their cover of Robyn's number one hit - With Every Heartbeat - on here too. Recorded for Radio 1's live lounge, it showcases some of the Girls best vocals ever. With dreamy piano and harmonies it's a magical track and fantastic extra to this CD.
Track Listing:
1. Can't Speak French (Radio Edit) 2. Je Ne Parle Pas Francais 3. Can't Speak French (Passions Mix) 4. With Every Heartbeat (BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge) 5. Can't Speak French (Video)

For fans however, the tue highlight of this cd has to be the b-side though. The now infamous track - Hoxton Heroes, written by the Girls themselves - sees them taking a dig at the current UK indie scene and the result is yet another amazing b-side from them.
Presenting them at their most 'punk', distorted vocals and a spellbinding chorus of 'Just Cos your dad knew the Rolling Stones, you've got the Primrose set in your cell-phone, don't kid yourself, you're an indie clone' it presents the classic Girls Aloud/Xenomania quirky lyrics coming up trumps again. A true winner of a track, combined with Can't Speak French, makes this single well worth getting your hands on.
