Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars disappointing   October 1, 2008
Generally disappointing - not that many recipes (approx 40) for price and size of book. Also very American-themed, such as measurements in cups and tablespoons instead of weights - I didn't find it very easy to measure butter with a tablespoon! Also temperatures in F not celcius or gas marks. Ingredients also had American terms so I wasn't always sure what the UK equivalent was.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant, Beautiful Book   December 15, 2007

This is an absolutely fabulous cookbook with easy to follow recipes which work well and stunning photographs to accompany them. Maybe the pictures are a little aspirationsl, but who would want otherwise?!

2 out of 5 stars A waste of time - bad results   September 2, 2007

I would call myself a good cake-baker and have lots of recipes, but wanted my daughter to have a book of her own.

We have now cooked 2 of the recipes, and I've looked carefully at the rest. The problems were:-
- extra beautiful illustrations that no child could hope to copy (very typical of usborne)
- Quite hard-to-follow instructions; you need to look in several places at once sometimes: but mainly
- Bad results. Flapjack was falling apart; brownies hugely sugary, even though I cut down on sugar as I went along.
