Having just returned from Jordan this guide proved quite useful. It outlines all the main details of tourist attractions, hotels, restaurants etc. However it is very outdated. Since 2000 when it was written Jordan has developed alot. For example in Petra and Aqaba there are many new places to stay and eat and some of the ones recommended did not even exist anymore! Therefore it was not of much use for attaining information on those aspects.

The maps of sites and detailed descriptions of momuments and how to get to them in Petra and Wadi Rum were very good and these are the books strengths. It is worth buying for those especially if exploring without a guide. The rest you'll have to work out when you arrive by yourselves!!
