Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Essential for trip planning!   September 2, 2007
I found this guide the best of all the gap year guides, has the best information on flights, counties, tickets etc.. broken down into easy reference tables and pages. It has been indispensable!

I found this book very helpful in showing me my options for my coming gap year. I learnt about new opportunities that I have never even known about. A good read.

2 out of 5 stars Poor   February 6, 2004

I am normally a massive fan of Lonely Planet books as I feel that they are usually detailed and informative yet easy to use - this is none of the aforementioned.

Although there is a good guide to useful websites at the back of the book and some useful informaton, the book is very vague on the whole and has a poor layout. There is far too much information on the mundane and it is impossible to plan or even to start to plan a GAP year around the information (or lack of it) that this book provides. One is better advised to buy separate accomodation, city, transport guides etc. You could buy this book for its fairly useful information on expeditions around the world and for ideas about how to go about planning your year but don't expect a big helping hand!

4 out of 5 stars Everything!   November 6, 2003

This small book encompases thousand of gap year plans such as conservation work, travelling and woriking in another country. Not only does it contain possiblilties but also potential restrictions such as the need for visas etc. With contact details for projects this book is essential for anyone planning or even thinking about a gap year. With regions broken down into sections such as an America, an Australia and New Zealand and then a Europe section. This book is fantastic reading simply for ideas!
