5 out of 5 stars Off the beaten track   June 10, 2003

This book was the ideal companion. For those who have a bit more individuality and go this book is perfect. There are plenty of recommendations of the tucked away and idyllic beaches dotted around the island (which happen to be frequented predominantly by non-British).

Descriptions of places to visit are often amusing with directions along the lines of: "Turn right at the yellow house with shutters, follow the dirt track for 200yds, turn left past some large coniferous trees ...." These usually lead you to some incredible locations which are completely unspoilt.

There is so much more to Ibiza than San Antonio!

This book is not worth buying. It is full packed with useless filler while missing out important information i.e. an extended history and no info on the costs of ferry. There was a hike that was meant to take 45 minutes and ended up taking 3hours. Do yourself a favour and save your money.

This guide was excellent, and extremely comprehensive. We went to Ibiza in Sept 2001 for the clubs' closing parties, but managed to hire out a car for a three days and explored the island. You've got to get to Atlantis, an amazing old quarry with weird hippy carvings and to some of the beaches in the north. The restaurants recommended in the RG were also very well chosen - check out Bambuddha Grove for Thai food...mmmmm...

5 out of 5 stars Not if you are a clubber   August 16, 2001

Ibiza is not an island that is thought of as an archetypal cultural hotspot. This guide at least tries to show that there are other sights to see other than the Superclubs, cafes on Sunset Strip and the hundreds of feeder pubs. However, if you are interested in the clubs this guide is also valuable. A good guide for any type of holiday.
