very useful book! January 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Took this book on our second visit to Lanzarote - and wished we'd had it first time round! It was very helpful and much more informative than the guide we used before.
Great restaurant info. We discovered some really nice new spots.
The Fuerteventura chapter gave us just enough in the way of ideas for us to plan a quick side trip over there. We had fun but now understand why there's only the one Fuerte chapter in the book - Lanza is just SO much nicer (sorry Fuerte fans!!!)
Great guide, worth every penny June 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As you'd expect from Rough Guides, this book is very thorough, and full of brilliant advice.
We booked our holiday to Lanzarote with accommodation included but wanted to explore the island on our own once we were there. Lanzarote Directions was really, really useful! Enjoyable and easy to read, too. There's so much more to Lanzarote than the obvious places that the standard tours take you to, and this book helped us find all sorts of interesting things.
Next time we'll stay at one of the villas recommended in the book - some of them sound like real finds - and do everything independently.
Fantastic - we bought this on impulse and it made our trip June 28, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We chose this Lanzarote guidebook as it seemed much fresher than the others (we already know the island a bit). We're SO GLAD we did - it took us to loads of amazing places we'd never have found by ourselves, including some very pretty villages and some really good restaurants and wineries. The chapter on Fuerteventura was useful too, as we spent a couple of days over there.
We'd recommend this book to anyone. It opened our eyes to a whole new side of Lanzarote and we enjoyed our trip so much we're going to book three weeks next time!
Utterly useless as regards Fuerteventura November 21, 2006 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most guide books which claim to cover both Lanzarote AND Fuerteventura in a single volume invariably treat the latter island as an afterthought. This one is no exception. Much better to buy the AA spiral guide to whichever island you intend to visit (cheaper and much more informative.)
