5 out of 5 stars Talk Italian   March 29, 2003

I bought the book and tape pack because I drive 500 miles every week and wanted to learn Italian quickly in the car. The tapes (2) are excellent and by the end of 1 week (with about 4 repetitions of each tape) I was able to construct short understandable sentences and can get by in Italy. I would certainly recommend this course.

4 out of 5 stars helpful to the absolute beginner   March 14, 2002

aimed at the absolute beginner, this book and accompanying cassettes is a useful start to learning italian and starting to speak it straight away. although the cassettes sometimes feature words which aren't explained elsewhere, and the speech is sometimes pretty fast and hard to follow, it is overall a good start to learning the language. i found it particularly useful to have both a book and audio material to learn from.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent beginners' book   September 25, 2001

We used this in our year 1 evening class last year....and when I went to italy this summer I was surprised how much I could manage to say. I think you could also manage with this book out of class ( I took it on holiday with me). It doesn't do anything complicated, strictly present tense, and doesn't always explain everything (our tutor filled bits in). On the whole though, a very approachable book, and one to whet the appetite for the Italian language.

5 out of 5 stars An ideal book for beginners to Italian   November 16, 2000

Talk Italian is an ideal book for grasping the basics of the Italian language. Whether you're going to Italy on business or just on holiday, it gives a good basic understanding of how to get by during your stay. The accompanying cassettes also greatly assist with your pronunciation
