A Great French Historical Novel June 7, 1997 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
"L'education sentimentale" is by all means thegreatest French novel I have ever read. It gives ahypnotically clear picture of the lives and timesbefore and after the 1848 Revolution. This booktransports the reader into history and makes himfeel he has been there himself. Flaubert's greatprose can of course only be fully appreciated inFrench, but a translation at least gives some ideaof the wealth of this book.
