A work of pure genius. November 24, 1999 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Catch-22 is without doubt one of the greatest novels ever written. Mr Heller has thought long and hard about every word to create a book which is as outrageously hillarious as it is deeply moving. You begin to feel as though you really know the characters. I often found myself reading paragraphs two or three times. How Heller came to think of some of the ideas in hear, i do not know. Everything about this book is perfect and the ending will leave you with an unforgettable image that sums up the character of the book beutifully. What more can i say? Just read this timeless masterpiece.
Cynics of the world unite November 16, 1999 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Absolutlely brilliant. If you have a keen sense of humour and are cyncial of those in power, then you will love this book. Although, on a superficial level this book is a series of comic tales, Hellers underlying messages about the adsurdity of those in power comes shining through. All our poltical leaders should be forced to read this book. Then perhaps, they will cut out all the waffle and tell it like it is.
The best ever novel??? July 23, 1999 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the best work of fiction I have ever read. Heller is an absolute genius, the book is hilarious, dark, and so cleverly structured. An absolute must!!!
A darkly comic masterpiece June 18, 1999 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Catch-22 has to be one of the few books where the title has entered into everyday English language usage. If you have a liking for dark humour, then this is a must. The book is both ridiculous, but plausible, laugh out loud funny, but at times shocking and sad. Everyone will find something that they can relate to and give a knowing smile.
DEEPLY BRILLIANT! April 14, 1999 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is intricate and knowingly well written. It is a modern masterpiece. Delving deeply into your mind and taking a dig at your sensibilities this book takes no prisoners. It is the most psychologically awakening book I have ever read, showing the futility of the soldiers life. This book offers a glimpse into the world of the insane and this world (as you will discover) often lies in the minds of those who are thought to be sane. READ THIS BOOK, EVERYONE SHOULD!
