Very Interesting November 12, 2000 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
A very interesting and readable book on a field of psychology called Transactional Analysis by one of its parents. Berne uses `games' to explain several social behaviours, from smalltalk during parties to complete life scripts. It shed light on several of the behaviours of my friends, family and myself.
A definite for all game players and that includes all of us! June 15, 2000 30 out of 36 found this review helpful
This book is written by the 'brain-child' of Transactional Analysis (TA) and although in some chapters it shows its 'vintage' it is still very applicable to the modern day games that we all play. Each chapter addresses various situations (i.e. relationships, party) and he lists the multitude of games people partake in where the outcome is 'win, lose, or draw'. Apart from the sometimes overwhelming use of acronyms, the book is worth a read by all those interested in TA as well as those interested in human interaction. Very enlightening and a good introduction to TA.

A readable and interesting book. It introduces some concepts in Transaction al Analysis and gives lots of examples of different games people play. Reading these are enjoyable and though the topic is serious the writing is so good, that you can slip it in yuour coat pocket and read a bit on the bus on the way to work. Some psychology books are so full of jargon and heavy going it is a real battle to finish them. Not this one!
A fascinating, mind stimulating eye opener January 1, 1999 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
This book changes the way you see the world. By understanding the structural aspects of the personality it enables you to live life without playing self destructive games, and also enables you to recognising it in others, thus avoiding unecessary conflicts with others.
